"Best Of"

Dorothea Lange Draft #3

My photography genre that I am focusing on is documentary. My goal was to take photos that captured both the concentration and facial expressions of my subjects, while at the same time being able to see the artwork that they are working on. I wanted the photos to look natural and effortless, which I tried to do by making my presence as unknown as possible.

Dorothea Lange Draft #1

In this photo series, my goal was to capture moments using photography that shared similar concepts and elements found in Dorothea Lange's work. I decided to focus on documentary style photography by going to an art class and photographing each students facial expressions while doing art. I tried to capture an emotion in each photo while also showing the project they were working on.

Narratives

This assignment took the normal, single shot and transformed it into a collage of several shots. We used all of the shots in the collage to create a story.

Micro Worlds

In this photo assignment, we used photographed backgrounds and put toy figures in front of them. We tried to use appropriate characters for each background, and to match the expression of their faces to what emotion and scene we were trying to convey.

Potraits

This photo assignment taught us to look deeper than just the typical portrait photo. Our goal was to capture emotion in each face that was not a posed picture, instead a genuine emotion that the person was feeling.

Depth and Repition

This photo assignment required us to look closely at everyday objects, and what kind of patterns they held.
