This photo assignment taught us to look deeper than just the typical portrait photo. Our goal was to capture emotion in each face that was not a posed picture, instead a genuine emotion that the person was feeling.
I liked how you used different subjects for the same type of emotion. Only suggestion would be to expand the range of moods of your models possibly when interacting with them.
Great Job! I really like your cohesive set of portraits incorporating Richard Avedon's techniques. This is particularly strong because I like how you used different models, which helps change the mood and emotion of every portrait. The last image in this series is particularly strong because the model is less posed.
Really nice series ingrid. I think you have a very good flow between your images. i also enjoyed how you captured similar emotions in all of these photos. i especially like photo of max. i feel as though he is not posing at all and you really capture some true emotion.
I really like these photos because of the black and white tonality but also because the subjects emotions are not obvious. some of their smiles are suppressed and some of their emotions seem almost blank, as if they're hiding their emotions from us, which to me is even more effective than the overt expressions some photographers go for

ReplyDeleteNice work Ingrid. The composition of each shot is strong and the emotions seem genuine. I'd say the last four are much stronger than the first two.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are really good. Your subjects are clearly showing real emotions.
ReplyDeleteI really like your pictures of Lian. They seem honest and specific to an emotion. The others tie in nicely with one another and all seem genuine.
